Dehradun, 6 Apr: Twenty-one more primary schools of the Education Department with dilapidated buildings will undergo reconstruction and renovation. For the transformation of these schools, Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has approved a budget of Rs 3.52 crore. Additionally, implementing agencies for the construction work have also been designated. Construction and repair work in the selected schools will begin soon, and necessary instructions have been issued to departmental officials.
The state government aims to strengthen basic infrastructure in every school and provide a quality educational environment for children. In this direction, priority has been given to revamping schools whose buildings are in poor or damaged condition, particularly government primary schools.
In this phase, 21 government primary schools in four districts—Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Almora—have been selected. Funds have been approved for reconstruction, roofing, flooring, boundary walls, and both minor and major repair works.
In Udham Singh Nagar district, Rs 23.44 lakh has been sanctioned for Government Model Primary School Chandeli Tharu and Rs 12.46 lakh for Mahuakhhera.
In Pithoragarh district, funds have been allocated as follows: Til Dhukri (Rs 23.50 lakh), Golman (Rs 11.50 lakh), Borabunga (Rs 28 lakh), Kuniya (Rs 15.40 lakh), Kimta (Rs 17.42 lakh), Kavadhar (Rs 18.26 lakh), Khwankot (Rs 13.10 lakh), Suni (Rs 15.20 lakh), Kamtoli (Rs 17.20 lakh), Narayan Nagar (Rs 15.80 lakh), and Bhadgaon (Rs 11.10 lakh) for various repair works.
In Dehradun district, schools include
Tunwala-2 (Rs 12.97 lakh), Araghar-2 (Rs 22.52 lakh), Nalapani Dhobighat (Rs 10.05 lakh), Johri (Rs 10.07 lakh), Government Girls Upper Primary School Araghar (Rs 33.67 lakh), Chandpur (Rs 10.80 lakh), and Government Girls Upper Primary School Johri (Rs 17.08 lakh).
In Almora, Rs 13.23 lakh has been sanctioned for Government Primary School Lamasinh for roofing, flooring, boundary wall, and other repairs.
The implementing agencies for these works include the Drinking Water Corporation, Rural Construction Department, and Mandi Parishad. Additionally, Rs 16.90 lakh has been approved for repair work of Government Primary School Bandar Lima in Didihat constituency of Pithoragarh under a Chief Minister’s announcement. Work in all these schools will begin soon, and necessary instructions have already been issued.
“Reconstruction of dilapidated school buildings is among the top priorities of the state government. The transformation of 21 primary schools across four districts will be carried out soon. This will not only improve basic infrastructure but also enhance the academic environment. The government is continuously working to improve quality and expand facilities in the education sector, benefiting children across the state,” stated Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Education Minister.
