Dehradun, 4 May: The entire leave process for teachers and non-teaching staff in the state’s School Education Department will now be conducted online. They will no longer need to visit offices or rely on manual approvals to obtain leave. Soon, an online leave management module will be added to the digital platform of the Vidya Samiksha Kendra, enabling teachers and staff to apply for leave online.

State School Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the government is promoting digital governance in the education system to ensure transparency, efficiency, good governance, and accountability through modern technology. As part of this initiative, the government has decided to make the entire leave process for teachers and non-teaching staff fully online.

Dr Rawat explained that, under this decision, an online leave management module will be integrated into the Vidya Samiksha Kendra platform. Through this module, teachers and staff will be able to apply for leave anytime and from anywhere, and the approval process will also be completed online. The system will be simple, transparent, and time-bound, allowing leave approvals with just a click and eliminating the need for repeated office visits.

He added that the new system will ensure that leave records of teachers and non-teaching staff are securely maintained and well-organised, preventing administrative inconveniences in the future. It will also make it easier for officials to process leave requests, saving time and effort.

Dr Rawat further stated that through the online system, teachers will be able to avail various types of leave such as casual leave, optional leave, earned leave, medical leave, maternity leave, and child care leave as per their convenience.

He confirmed that departmental officials have been directed to implement the online leave system at the earliest. He also emphasised that other administrative functions of the department will be gradually digitised, moving the education system towards a fully e-governance-based framework.
