Dehradun, 4 May: Padma Shri awardee Premchand Sharma made a courtesy call on Governor Gurmit Singh at the Lok Bhavan, here, today.
On this occasion, Sharma briefed the Governor about his efforts in horticulture and organic farming. He shared that he has been inspiring people through horticulture and is working towards promoting reverse migration by encouraging organic farming in rural areas. He also highlighted an innovative initiative to cultivate various plants used in religious rituals at a single location.
Sharma emphasised the production of black turmeric, noting its numerous medicinal properties. He stressed the need to encourage farmers to cultivate it and to develop an effective marketing system, which could help increase farmers’ income.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of Premchand Sharma and stated that there is immense potential in the fields of agriculture and horticulture. He noted that innovation, organic farming, and value addition can strengthen the economic condition of farmers. The Governor described such initiatives as important for the overall development of the state.
