DEHRADHUN, 9 May: Uttarakhand unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha has announced a statewide protest demonstrations and effigy burning programmes against what it termed as a conspiracy by the Congress and other opposition parties to malign the image of the BJP and disturb the atmosphere in the state over the Champawat case. This has been announced by President of State BJP Mahila Morcha, Ruchi Bhatt. She informed that the programmes, which will include press conferences and effigy burning demonstrations, will be organised across the State from Saturday till May 11, under the leadership of state president Ruchi Bhatt.
Addressing the issue, Ruchi Bhatt alleged that the Congress and Opposition parties are continuously attempting to mislead women, youth and society for political gains. She claimed that efforts are being made to give a political colour to the Champawat incident in order to tarnish the image of the BJP government and organisation, but asserted that the women of Uttarakhand would never allow such attempts to succeed.
Bhatt said the BJP has always stood firmly in favour of women’s dignity, safety and justice, while accusing the Congress of repeatedly exploiting women’s sentiments for political purposes. Bhatt further alleged that opposition parties were deliberately trying to create an atmosphere of disorder and instability in the State, but maintained that the people of Uttarakhand had fully understood their alleged conspiracies.
She said the Mahila Morcha would organise press briefings across the state to present what it described as the factual position before the public and expose the “double standards” of the Congress.
Under the programmes planned by the Mahila Morcha, Dr Swaraj Vidwan will address press conferences in Uttarkashi, while Pushpa Paswan and Damyanti Ratudi will participate in Chamoli. Asha Nautiyal will be the main speaker in Rudraprayag, Geeta Rawat in Tehri, and Madhu Chauhan along with Neeru Devi in Dehradun Rural. Neha Joshi will address the media in Rishikesh, while Kiran Jaisal and Annu Kakkar will participate in Haridwar.
Similarly, Vinod Agrawal and Anita Agrawal will be present in Roorkee, Madhu Bhatt in Kotdwar, Sushma Rawat in Pauri, Kalpana Devalal and Kamla Chufal in Pithoragarh, and Prabha Gadiya along with Parvati Das in Bageshwar. Vimla Rawat and Jyoti Shah will lead programmes in Ranikhet, while Kiran Pant and Ganga Bisht will address press conferences in Almora.
In Champawat, Ruchi Bhatt and Hema Joshi will participate as chief speakers, while Ruchi Bhatt and Shanti Mehra will lead the programme in Nainital. Seema Chauhan and Usha Chaudhary will address media interactions in Kashipur, while Ruchi Bhatt and Rashmi Rastogi will participate in Udham Singh Nagar.
The Mahila Morcha also announced that effigy burning programmes would be organised in various districts as part of the agitation. Senior office-bearers of the organisation, public representatives and a large number of party workers are expected to participate in the events.
Ruchi Bhatt said the BJP Mahila Morcha would act as the voice of women across the state and give a strong reply to what she termed as the negative politics of the Congress and opposition parties. She also appealed to party workers and women supporters to participate enthusiastically in the programmes.
