DEHRADUN, 9 May : The grand launch of the much-discussed book “Justice on Sale” by advocate Yogesh Sethi was held on Saturday. During the discussion on the book, speakers highlighted how the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system is failing ordinary citizens. Instead of ensuring speedy and impartial justice, the system often pressures parties into settlements.
Chief Guest Justice Sharad Kumar Sharma, while unveiling the book, said that the publication brings forth the true condition of India’s Alternative Dispute Resolution system. He remarked that the book is not merely a publication, but a serious discourse on a crucial aspect of the justice system.
Special Guest Senior Advocate R. Shankaranarayanan joined the programme virtually and stated that the book is a sincere and commendable effort to raise important questions concerning the judicial system and the ADR mechanism. He added that it would encourage meaningful discussions within the legal fraternity.
Author Yogesh Sethi said that the book attempts to explain how convenience and cost-cutting often overshadow genuine fairness, thereby betraying the original promise of ADR. He further stated that the issues presented in the book are based on his close observations and experiences as an advocate. According to him, eminent authors and readers who have reviewed the book appreciated it as a bold effort to expose significant concerns within the justice delivery system.
Other speakers at the event described it as a matter of pride for Uttarakhand that a senior advocate from the state has written a book on such a serious and relevant subject. Following the launch ceremony, an interactive session was also organised with the guests, during which various issues related to law, society, and the justice system were discussed.
Among those present on the occasion were Culture Secretary Yugal Kishore Pant, STF SSP Ajai Singh, ADM KK Mishra, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Synergy Hospital MD Kamal Garg, ADJ Amit Kumar Sirohi, advocate Kanwaljeet, Minority Commission Chairman Baljit Soni, Advocate Pankaj Kshetri, SP Intelligence Manikant Mishra, senior Congress leader Aaryendra Sharma, State Consumer Commission Chairperson Kumkum Rani, and several other distinguished guests.
