Dehradun, 12 May: Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal today reached the protest site of the Nursing Ekta Manch at Parade Ground here and extended support to the nursing candidates agitating for their rightful demands. Today, Godiyal, accompanied by Congress workers, joined the protest and reiterated that the government must act swiftly to meet the legitimate expectations of the nursing fraternity. He urged the state government to take an early decision and resolve the issues raised by the candidates without further delay.
Godiyal reminded that the nursing aspirants have been staging demonstrations and hunger strikes for a long time, pressing for justice and recognition of their demands.
Expressing concern, Godiyal claimed that it is deeply disturbing that for more than 35 hours, Jyoti Rautela, president of Mahila Congress, along with some nursing candidates, has been sitting atop the water tank at Parade Ground, yet the government has not bothered to reach out to them. He criticised the insensitivity of the administration and stressed that the voices of the nursing candidates must be heard. He emphasised that the government’s apathy towards the plight of the nursing aspirants is unacceptable and demanded immediate redress.
On the occasion, several Congress leaders including media chairman Rajiv Meharshi, state general secretary Rajendra Shah, Pradeep Thapliyal, Jagdish Dhiman, state secretary Rajiv Tomar, Sunit Singh Rathore, spokesperson Mohan Kala, Hukum Singh Kathait, block president Lalit Bhadri, Rakesh Singh Mia, Virendra Panwar, Vineet Prasad Bantu and Vinod Dhanosi were among those present to express solidarity with the nursing candidates.
