Dehradun, 4 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the construction of the 3‑B Garden (Bee‑friendly, Butterfly‑friendly and Bird‑friendly) at the garden located within the Circuit House here, today, by planting a Krishna Vat sapling. The garden is being developed with the objective of conserving and promoting bees, butterflies and birds. A wide variety of plants that encourage pollination and biodiversity are being planted extensively, while the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals around the garden will remain prohibited to safeguard the natural ecosystem.

The officials stated that the creation of this special garden will not only encourage beekeeping but also contribute significantly to biodiversity conservation and promotion. They added that the garden will further play an important role in raising public awareness about environmental protection and sensitivity towards nature. It may be recalled that the CM had earlier directed horticulture in‑charge Deepak Purohit to develop such a garden, following which the selection and plantation of suitable species was initiated.

The garden is witnessing mixed plantation of species such as jamun, mulberry, drumstick, kadamb, camphor, hibiscus, guava, neem, bamboo, bottle brush, tikoma, zinnia, cosmos, pentas, milkweed, passion flower, hamelia, ixora, lantana, tulsi, lavender, sunflower, rosemary and mint. Alongside, new saplings are being planted near old and decaying trees within the complex. In addition, species native to high Himalayan and mountainous regions such as oak, rhododendron, bay leaf and peya have also been planted since last year, which are now growing healthily and enhancing the natural beauty and distinctiveness of the premises.

The CM appreciated the ongoing environmental and biodiversity promotion activities in the complex and directed the horticulture department to prepare a detailed plan for expanding beekeeping activities within the residence complex and adjoining areas.

On this occasion, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Horticulture Director Dr RK Singh and Narendra Yadav were also present.
