CM transfers Rs 176 crore pension to 9.74 lakh social welfare beneficiaries

Dehradun, 4 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a state-level collective awareness orientation programme at the IRDT auditorium, here, today. On this occasion, he also transferred the May 2026 pension instalment directly into the accounts of beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes through one-click mode. A total of Rs 176.592 crores was deposited into the accounts of 9,74,338 beneficiaries. At the same time, the CM also administered an oath for drug-free living and respect and care for senior citizens.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Dhami stressed that such initiatives play a vital role in ensuring social welfare schemes reach the last person in society. He claimed that the government’s objective is to provide benefits to every eligible individual without discrimination, delay or obstruction. He also claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, welfare schemes have expanded widely across the country under the guiding principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’. Schemes such as Jan Dhan, Ujjwala, Pradhan Mantri Awas, Ayushman Bharat and free ration have benefitted crores of people. He added that schemes like Stand-Up India, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, PM SVANidhi, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana and the National Livelihood Mission have created opportunities for self-employment and economic empowerment among deprived sections.
The CM asserted that the state government is consistently working to strengthen social justice. Antyodaya families are being provided three free gas cylinders annually, vehicle allowance for differently-abled employees has been increased, and women are being linked to self-help groups (SHGs) through the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana’ and skill development programmes to make them economically self-reliant. Initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana, Mukhyamantri Palayan Roktham Yojana, Vibrant Village Programme and Apni Sarkar portal are being implemented to ensure development reaches the last person.
Dhami also asserted that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, unprecedented progress has been achieved in road, education, health, rail and air connectivity. Successful organisation of the National Games and G-20 meetings has given Uttarakhand global recognition, while investment proposals from the Global Investors Summit are being realised. He added that efforts are underway to promote winter tourism and accelerate work on the Kedarkhand and Manaskhand temple mala mission. Projects such as the Sharda Corridor, Rishikesh-Haridwar Corridor, Yamuna Corridor, Vivekananda Corridor and Goljyu Corridor are also progressing.
The CM observed that the state’s economy has grown one-and-a-half times in the past four years, with a 7.23 per cent rise in GSDP recorded in the last year. Per capita income has increased by 41 per cent in four years, while unemployment has reduced by 4.4 per cent, better than the national average. The state’s budget size has crossed Rs 1 lakh crores. He reminded that growth has been two to three times in homestay, industry, startups, heliports and power generation. Uttarakhand has secured first place in the NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals index, second place among special category states in the Government of India’s Public Financial Management Index and that it has been recognised as ‘Achievers’ in Ease of Doing Business and ‘Leaders’ in Startup rankings.
He said strict laws against religious conversion, riots and land fraud have been enforced. The CM added that over 11,000 acres of government land have been freed from encroachment. Since the implementation of the anti-cheating law, more than 33,000 youth have secured government jobs transparently in the past four-and-a-half years.
Dhami on this occasion stressed on a four-point strategy for effective implementation of schemes, including extensive publicity, simplification of government processes, maximum use of technology and regular monitoring with accountability. He urged the members of commissions, councils and committees to undertake regular visits to districts and remote areas to monitor ground-level implementation.
On this occasion, Cabinet Ministers Khajan Das and Bharat Chaudhary, MLAs Savita Kapoor, Parvati Das and Bhupal Ram Tamta, Secretary Sridhar Babu Addanki, Additional Secretary Prakash Chandra and chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of various commissions, councils and committees were among those present.
