It may be recalled that, on 8 June, Dhanpal Lal of Deval village lodged a written complaint at Lambgaon police station alleging that his son Ketan Lal and his friend Divakar Dimri were assaulted by Yashvir Singh Panwar, son of Vidyadhar Panwar, along with family members. The complaint stated that both were confined in a house and beaten severely. Ketan Lal sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital where he succumbed during treatment, while Divakar Dimri suffered a fractured hand and remains under medical care.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 103(1), 3(5) of the BNS and Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act. Considering the gravity of the matter, Tehri SSP Shweta Chaubey directed the Additional Superintendent of Police to conduct a detailed investigation and entrusted the inquiry to Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh Lakhera.

SSP Chaubey confirmed that two named accused, Yashvir and Vidya Singh Panwar, had already been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Following technical analysis, evidence collection and witness statements, two more accused, Sachin Singh Panwar and Sumit Prasad, were arrested today.

The case is reported to be linked to a love affair. As soon as they reached the girl’s village, her family members and others caught them and took them inside a room where they were brutally assaulted.
