Dehradun, 22 Jun: The Dehradun district administration claims to have adopted a tough stance on swift and permanent resolution of public grievances. At the ‘Samadhan Diwas’ held today, District Magistrate (DM) Dr Ashish Chauhan directed that the areas from where repeated complaints are being received will be analysed through GIS mapping and accountability of officers concerned will be fixed. He instructed the NIC to prepare a GIS map by analysing data of the last ten Samadhan Diwas on a department-wise basis. He made it clear that hotspot areas will be identified and direct action taken against responsible officials to ensure lasting solutions.
During the programme, the DM heard 146 complaints and directed officials to ensure time-bound disposal. He said pendency at any level would not be tolerated. Complaints related to illegal land possession, encroachment, demarcation, loan waivers, electricity, drinking water, legal and financial assistance were prominently raised today. The DM instructed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and engineers of construction departments to join the proceedings virtually if unable to attend in person, so that grievances could be resolved on the spot. He particularly emphasised priority disposal of complaints from remote areas such as Chakrata and Kalsi.
Taking cognisance of banking-related complaints, the DM directed the lead bank manager to conduct a review. He questioned why civil checks are not carried out at the time of loan sanction, which later create repayment difficulties. On complaints of women facing domestic disputes and harassment, he instructed the District Programme Officer to ensure immediate assistance through the One Stop Centres and to intensify awareness about their services. He also directed the police to act firmly in cases of assault and disputes.
In several important matters, Chauhan issued urgent directions for resolution. In village Nada of Chakrata block, where apple orchards are endangered due to lack of retaining walls and painting after road cutting by PMGSY, he ordered the executive engineer to complete necessary work within seven days. On complaints of illegal possession and unauthorised construction on the land of the historic Khurja Wali Dharamshala at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh, he directed the SDM Rishikesh and the Municipal Corporation to take swift action. Similarly, on encroachment, sale of tobacco products and illegal activities outside PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Salawala, he instructed the Superintendent of Police and Assistant Municipal Commissioner to ensure action within seven days.
On complaints from Sahaspur about assault by land mafia and lack of action despite FIRs, he directed the police and the revenue officials to conduct immediate investigation and take due action. In village Chharba, on encroachment of ponds, barren land and government wells, he ordered the Tehsildar Vikasnagar to investigate and remove encroachments. On Mohini Road, where unauthorised digging of roads and damage to public property was reported, he directed the SDM Sadar to investigate and take strict action.
Among the complainants were Sudami Devi of Doiwala, who raised a family property dispute, and Rajendra Kumar of Ambedkar Marg, who sought relief in electricity bill waiver.
Among those present at the Samadhan Diwas included ADM (Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra, ADM (Administration) Smrita Parmar, SDM Ravindra Jwantha, District Development Officer (DDO) Sunil Kumar, district-level officers of various departments and all SDMs through virtual medium.
