Dehradun, 1 Jul: Dehradun district administration will conduct a comprehensive mock drill tomorrow at seven sensitive locations across Dehradun district to ensure effective preparedness against possible disasters during the monsoon. The exercise will test the readiness, coordination and resource availability of departments in situations such as floods, landslides, waterlogging, road blockages and relief and rescue operations.

The sites identified for the mock drill include Dudhli area, Suswa River and Song River bank at Gohri Mafi (Rishikesh), Karligarh area, Lambi Dhar–Rikimadi motor road (Mussoorie), Chakrata–Rimori motor road (Chakrata tehsil), Sahaspur–Jamunipur along the Asan and Swarna river banks (Vikasnagar) and Sahastradhara area (Dehradun). At these locations, relief and rescue campaigns will be practiced according to different disaster scenarios.

District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan has directed the officers designated under the Incident Response System at district and tehsil levels, along with all the line departments, to participate mandatorily in the drill with full preparation at the scheduled time. He made it clear that any negligence or absence during the exercise will be taken seriously and strict action will be initiated against the concerned officer or employee under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act.

The DM also appealed to the public, clarifying that the mock drill is only intended to test monsoon disaster management preparedness. He urged citizens not to pay attention to the rumours or panic and urged them to cooperate with the administration during the exercise. This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening disaster readiness and ensuring public safety during the monsoon season.
