DEHRADUN/RISHIKESH, 4 Jul: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday inaugurated the “Service, Good Governance and Dedication: Government for Every Citizen, at Every Doorstep” service fortnight at the IDPL ground in Rishikesh. During the event, they inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 51 development projects in Dehradun district worth more than Rs. 219 crore.

Congratulating Chief Minister Dhami on completing more than five years in office, Governor Gurmit Singh said the milestone reflects public trust, democratic stability, and continuity in development. He noted that Uttarakhand has taken several landmark decisions under the Chief Minister‘s leadership, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), a stringent anti-copying law, anti-conversion legislation, and an effective land law, all aimed at strengthening good governance.
The Governor said that the redevelopment of Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines, the Global Investors Summit, G20 meetings, the National Games, and tourism initiatives have established Uttarakhand as an emerging hub for investment and development. He also encouraged young people to explore opportunities in startups and artificial intelligence (AI).
Chief Minister Dhami said that serving the people of Uttarakhand over the past five years has been a journey driven by public service, good governance, and dedication. He emphasized that the government‘s vision is to transform Uttarakhand into a developed and leading state by 2035.
He said the State is prioritizing infrastructure, education, healthcare, drinking water, roads, agriculture, tourism, industry, and the development of border areas. Initiatives such as the new Startup Policy, One District-Two Products scheme, Homestay scheme, and Solar Self-Employment scheme are creating new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth.
Highlighting women’s empowerment, the Chief Minister said that more than 265,000 women have become self-reliant under the Lakhpati Didi initiative. He added that investment proposals worth over Rs. 1 lakh crore received during the Global Investors Summit have already been implemented on the ground.
Dhami also stated that the government has provided more than 34,000 government jobs through a transparent recruitment process over the past five years. He directed officials to actively engage with citizens during the service fortnight, ensure prompt resolution of public grievances, and extend the benefits of government welfare schemes to every eligible beneficiary.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, Cabinet Ministers Rekha Arya, Dhan Singh Rawat, Khajan Das and Bharat Chaudhary, former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Rajya Sabha MPs Naresh Bansal and Mahendra Bhatt, along with several legislators, senior officials, and public representatives.
