Dehradun, 8 Jul: Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) met Vice-Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University, Prof (Dr) Tripta Thakur, at the Lok Bhavan here on Wednesday.
During the courtesy meeting, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the Governor on the university’s academic and research initiatives, as well as its efforts to strengthen the role of technology in the overall development of Uttarakhand.
The Governor stressed the need to align technical education with the state’s development priorities. He said that skill development, innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship should be promoted in line with industry requirements to prepare youth for the future and make them industry-ready. He also directed the university to launch programmes aimed at promoting women’s technological empowerment, digital skill development, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship. Additional Secretary to the Governor, Reena Joshi, was also present at the meeting.
