Mussoorie, 23 Jul: Targeting the Congress and opposition parties regarding the protests over the NEET exam controversy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Dehradun, BJP youth leader Aryan Dev Uniyal asserted that there should be no politics over students’ issues. He stated that the government is treating the entire matter seriously and action is being taken against the guilty; however, certain organisations are attempting to exploit students’ sentiments for political gain. Uniyal mentioned that having been involved in student life himself, he deeply understands the students’ anguish. He noted that following the emergence of the exam issue, the government took immediate steps: the investigation was handed over to the CBI, a re-examination was conducted, and the results have already been declared. Under these circumstances, it is inappropriate to divert the agitation from its core issue and transform it into a political platform. He questioned the Leftist and various political organisations currently championing the students’ cause, asking where they were when the investigation and subsequent actions were actually underway.
He alleged that some individuals are trying to secure a political foothold by inciting the emotions of the youth.
Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with students in Dehradun, Uniyal stated that the BJP has no political concerns about his visit. He remarked that while the Congress is propagating the narrative that the BJP is rattled by Rahul Gandhi’s programme, the reality is quite different. He asserted that the controversy raised over the venue was not based on facts; on the day of Rahul Gandhi’s event, programmes related to the promotion of folk culture had already been scheduled in Dehradun and had been ongoing for several days. Consequently, the allegations regarding permission issues amount to nothing more than political rhetoric. Uniyal expressed confidence that the people of Uttarakhand stand with the BJP, driven by the party’s commitment to development and good governance. He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, continuous development work is underway in the state, and the BJP will form the government for the third consecutive term in the 2027 assembly elections. He remarked that, when the elections arrive, the public itself will decide whose words carry weight and who merely attempted to stoke issues for political gain. The BJP is committed to the interests of the youth, students, and the general public, and the government is addressing every sensitive issue with a sense of responsibility.
