Dehradun, 11 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today granted financial approval of Rs 74 crore for a range of development and disaster management works across different parts of the state. The allocation covers infrastructure development, repair of school properties damaged by disasters, construction of government residential buildings, flood protection measures for the villages and the offices, the reconstruction of damaged roads, disaster mitigation works and the construction of helipads.
The CM approved an amount of Rs 8.91 crores for the construction of a helipad at Beda-Majhra (Karimpur) in Bageshwar district, Rs 4.99 crores for sewer line and related works at Gangotri Dham including connections to houses and public toilets, and Rs 8.89 crores for pending expenditure under the Prosecution Establishment in the Prosecution Office. He also sanctioned an expenditure amounting to Rs 15 crores each for secondary and primary schools to ensure quick repair of damaged facilities and continuity of teaching activities, making a total of Rs 30 crores under the State Disaster Response Fund for recovery and reconstruction. Additionally, an expenditure of Rs 1.08 crores was approved for Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Almora, Chamoli, Champawat, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Dehradun districts under various heads of the State Disaster Response Fund including relief, rescue, recovery, reconstruction, preparedness and capacity building.
For flood protection of residential buildings in seven villages of Khatima block in Udham Singh Nagar district, the CM approved an expenditure amounting to Rs 4.01 crores, while an amount of Rs 4.62 crores has been approved for flood safety measures along the right bank of the Jagbudha river at Sisaiya, Melaghat and the SSB camp office on the India–Nepal border. In Chamoli district, an amount of Rs 3.18 crores has been sanctioned for payment of bills related to JCB and Pokland machines used for clearing debris and opening disaster-affected roads under open communication works of previous years. The CM also approved an amount of Rs 3.27 crores for a solid waste project in the Herbertpur municipal council area.
Additional approvals granted by the CM today include Rs 2 crores for maintenance of earthquake early warning systems, Rs 1.90 crores for satellite phone recharge, Rs 40 lakhs for maintenance and honorarium of experts at the Joshimath landslide control room under the World Bank-assisted project, Rs 60 lakhs for conducting mock exercises and Rs 18 lakhs for honorarium of EERS personnel deployed in the authority, all under the capacity development head of the State Disaster Response Fund.
In addition, Dhami also approved naming the Chalukudia–Masamoli–Naukholi motor road in Chaubattakhal constituency after martyr Mandeep Singh Negi, thereby honouring his sacrifice.
