Haridwar, 28 Aug: Haridwar police have uncovered significant information during the course of investigating cyber fraud cases. While analysing data of complaints registered across various states on the coordination portal, several suspicious mobile numbers were detected. It was found that SIM cards for these numbers had been issued from a single POS agent’s shop situated on Bahadrabad Road near Roorkee. Police have lodged an FIR in this regard and launched an investigation. The said operator has been been found to be operating under M/s Gulistan Enterprises and Abrar Telecom titles.

It may be recalled that Haridwar Police have recently uncovered a large scale cyber fraud and have arrested some people. On Wednesday, Sub‑Inspector Manoj Gairola had managed to access the coordination portal using the station’s unique user ID and also examined the data related to suspicious SIMs. Scrutiny of information received from the Haridwar cyber cell revealed details of mobile numbers used in cyber fraud complaints registered in Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana and West Bengal.

The investigation further established that SIM cards for several of these numbers had been issued by Gulistan Enterprises‑Abrar Telecom, a POS agent located on Bahadrabad Road near Patanjali Vidyapeeth in Roorkee. Preliminary findings have indicated that these mobile numbers were used in cyber fraud incidents across different states. Considering the link between suspicious mobile numbers and registered complaints, an FIR has been filed. Circle Officer (CO) Sanjay Chauhan has confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
