Dehradun, 7 Feb: The House today passed the Bill providing ten percent horizontal reservation for statehood agitationists and their dependants in state government services. Following this, the House was adjourned sine die.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal sought the permission of the House to pass this bill, following which the bill was passed.

It may be recalled that the Bill had earlier been tabled in September but certain anomalies were found in the bill by the Opposition as well as Treasury members like Munna Singh Chauhan and Vinod Chamoli, after which it was referred to a Select Committee for amendments. The Select Committee studied the bill and recommended certain changes and the bill was returned to the government, which incorporated the required changes.

The bill was reintroduced in the House yesterday. Today it was passed without any further discussion by voice vote and, then, the House adjourned sine die. This was a special session of the House.
