Rudrapur, 24 Jun: A young man and his sister working in their agriculture field in village Sajna of Khatima Tehsil were tragically killed this morning after being struck by lightning. The incident has left the bereaved family and the entire village in a state of deep grief and mourning. The Police has taken the bodies in custody and sent them for postmortem. On receiving the information, several public representatives reached the bereaved family to offer condolences.
Both the siblings were transplanting paddy saplings in the field in their village Sajna in Khatima Tehsil in district Udham Singh Nagar when the lightning struck. Those who died due to lightning strike are Sumit Singh Rana, a resident of village Sajna, and his elder sister Suhani Rana.
According to the reports, both the brother and the sister fell unconscious after being struck by lightning. In a hurry, the family and the people around took both to Khatima Hospital, where the doctors declared both as brought dead. On receiving the information, police reached the village and has taken both the bodies in custody and sent them for postmortem. After the news of death, there is grief and mourning not only in the family members but in the entire village. Several public representatives including the local MLA reached the hospital and consoled the family members. Later, the police took both the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.
