VC, Sridev Suman Varsity, briefs Gov on research project

Dehradun, 8 Jul: Vice Chancellor of Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University, Prof NK Joshi paid a courtesy call on Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Monday. The Governor received information from the Vice Chancellor regarding the research being done by the university under the “One University-One Research” scheme. The Vice Chancellor gave a brief presentation on the progress regarding the research on “Indian Oriental Intellectual Property in the Modern Scenario”.

The Vice Chancellor added that, under this project, an international conference was organised on 11-12 June, in which more than a hundred subject experts and researchers from the country and abroad participated and 228 research papers were presented. Discussions were held on ancient Indian Ayurveda, mathematics, environment, agriculture, economics, religious texts, philosophy, traditional Indian science, physics, literature, Vedas, Vedanga, astrology, geography, textile science, samadhi science, etc. He presented the souvenir and abstract booklet related to this conference to the Governor.

It is worth noting that the Governor had directed all the universities of the state to submit their report on their in-depth research for one year. All the universities have selected the subject of their research according to their expertise and work is in progress. The universities are to submit the mid-term report by the month of August and their full report by 2025.

The Vice Chancellor also spoke about the university’s achievements in the last one year – 24 patents have been filed and 15 MoUs have been signed. Apart from the international conference, faculty development programmes and workshops have been organised from time to time.
