Mussoorie, 22 Aug: Heavy damage is being caused due to continuous rain in Mussoorie. Due to a heavy landslide at Picture Palace bus stand, the passenger shelter built by the municipality and the electric transformer have got damaged. The Savitri Home Stay of state agitationist Devi Godiyal has also come in danger. A big oak tree has come in the grip of landslide which can fall anytime due to which Savitri Home Stay can suffer heavy damage. Due to a large electricity transformer being hit by a landslide, electricity services in the area have got disrupted due to which people are facing a lot of problems.
The disrupted traffic was made smooth by removing the debris and stones on the road, today. On the other hand, after a heavy landslide on Mussoorie National Highway 707 Mussoorie- Tehri-Dhanaulti Road, it got closed due to which people are facing a lot of problems. Due to the closure of the road, there was a long jam of vehicles on both sides of the road. The traffic was made smooth by removing the debris on the road with a JCB by the National Highway officials. Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi’s representative, BJP leader Mohan Petwal reached the spot to take stock of the damage caused by the landslide at Picture Palace Bus Stand and talked to the Municipal Administration and DFO, Mussoorie, over the phone and demanded the removal of the tree that came under the grip of the landslide so that the homestay could be saved. At the same time, instructions were given to the Electricity Department to restore electricity services.
Mohan Petwal said that there was a lot of damage due to the landslide late at night in the area. He said that local MLA and Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi is in Gairsain for the Assembly Session and he has been informed about the damage caused by the landslide.
Swami Devi Godiyal said that his home stay has been put under threat due to the landslide late at night, due to which he has evacuated and closed the home, so that any untoward incident can be avoided. He has appealed to the administration and government to provide help.
