Celebrating Constitution Day with Blood Donation is exemplary: Munna Singh Chauhan

Dehradun, 26 Nov: On the occasion of Constitution Day, hundreds of students stood in line to donate blood at the Law College Dehradun of Uttaranchal University, here, today. Six blood banks collected blood with more than 100 technicians and doctors. Blood donation started at 9 a.m. and by noon the blood banks had achieved their targets. More than 5000 students had registered for blood donation. After going through the screening process and according to their capacity, blood donation was accepted from 1025 students. The maximum 450 units of blood were collected by Mahant Indresh Blood Bank.

Mahant Indresh Hospital, IMA Blood Bank, Doon Hospital, Subharti Hospital, AIIMS Rishikesh, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Jolly Grant collected the blood.

The occasion was the celebration of the 75th Constitution Day. Senior politician and MLA Munna Singh Chauhan was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The programme was presided over by the President of the University, Jitendra Joshi. The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the ceremonial lamp and collective reading of the Preamble of the Constitution.

Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna said that, on the occasion of Constitution Day, while the Law College organises a series of programmes, on the other hand, voluntary blood donation is held for the last 20 years.

In his address, MLA Munna Singh Chauhan said that the students have presented a noble example by donating their blood on the occasion of Constitution Day and directly contributing to the health services of the state. He said that the origin and continuous development of the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution had started in the Vedic period. The Constitution is still going through the process of continuous development. The words socialism and secularism are the result of amendments. Parliamentary sovereignty is also the basic structure of the Constitution. He advised the students to focus on increasing their capabilities rather than success.

University Vice Chancellor Prof Dharma Buddhi said that 35 percent of the members of the first Parliament of India were advocates, while there is a severe shortage of law graduates in the current Parliament. After getting legal education, students can play an important role in social change.

In her address, Vice President of the University, Ankita Joshi said that while the Constitution is the largest in the world, it is also a comprehensive document capable of guiding people successfully even in the most difficult situations.

In his presidential address, Jitendra Joshi said that our Constitution is a unique example of the wisdom, capability, experience and vision of the freedom fighters of the country. Assimilating the Preamble of the Constitution and reading it is no less than a prayer for every Indian.

College Principal Dr Poonam Rawat proposed the vote of thanks while the camp was jointly organised by Legal Aid Centre, National Service Scheme, NCC and Uttarakhand Hospital and Diagnostic Centre.

Present on this occasion were Vice Chairperson Anuradha Joshi, Prof Shravan Kumar, Prof Mahipal Singh, Dr Abhiranjan Dixit, Dr Radheshyam Jha, Dr Amit Bhatt, Amit Chandra, Vikendra Kathait, Jyoti Chhetri, Sudhir Joshi, Dr Nitesh and a large number of teachers and students from the University.
