Dehradun, 7 Jan: Yamini Rohila, Congress candidate for the post of Nagar Palika Chairperson from Herbertpur in Dehradun, could not get any relief from the High Court regarding her candidature. It may be recalled that her nomination was rejected by the Returning Officer after her caste certificate was found suspicious. Following this, she filed a petition in the High Court against the rejection of her nomination.
At the hearing held in Nainital today, the court rejected her petition. Now, Congress is deliberating on supporting an independent candidate in Herbertpur. It may also be recalled that nomination papers of several Congress candidates have been rejected for the civic polls in the state and that the Congress had made a big issue out of this alleging foul play of the government behind such rejections.
