Dehradun, 7 Jan: Hearing a case regarding suspension of Company Secretary Praveen Tandon of PTCUL, a single bench of Uttarakhand High Court, comprising Justice Pankaj Purohit, has issued a notice of contempt to Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, who also happens to be Chairperson of Uttarakhand Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (PTCUL).
It may be recalled that PTCUL management had sometime ago suspended its Company Secretary Praveen Tandon over allegations of misconduct and misbehaviour. In this case, after his suspension, Tandon had not handed over the keys of his official cupboard for which he was taken to the court by the Corporation. However, during an earlier hearing in this case, Tandon had pleaded that he was willing to hand over the keys, but the cupboard had certain sensitive documents and therefore he would be willing to hand over the keys to an independent authority or the person designated by the Court.
Hearing the case today, the PTCUL claimed that Tandon had indulged in contempt of court by not handing the keys on which a notice was issued to him too. In his response, Tandon pleaded that the official designated by the Court did not visit the office to take the keys under pressure from higher officials and that it was not his mistake that he could not hand over the keys. At this, the Court decided to issue a notice of contempt to Chief Secretary/Chairperson of PTCUL in this regard.
Tandon, who is the petitioner in the case is represented by Advocate SS Yadav and the respondents in this case are the Chief Secretary and Prakash Chand Dhyani.
