DEHRADUN, 7 Jan: Social Development for Communities (SDCFoundation, based in Dehradun, handed over two of its newly released reports to the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi. These reports are based on the Uttarakhand Swachh Survekshan 2023 and Char Dham Yatra 2024. After reviewing the reports, the Chief Secretary assured that efforts would be made to implement the suggestions provided in the reports to the extent possible.
On Tuesday, Anoop Nautiyal of SDC Foundation met Raturi at her office in the Secretariat. He presented the two reports issued by the Foundation. These reports were released by SDC Foundation last month.
One of the reports, titled ‘Pathways to Pilgrimage: Data Insights, Challenges, and Opportunities’, focuses on the Char Dham Yatra 2024. It analyzes various aspects of the Char Dham Yatra, which lasted for 192 days in 2024, based on government data and media reports. Based on the assessment of the Char Dham Yatra, the report offers ten key suggestions.
The second report is based on the Uttarakhand results of the Swachh Survekshan 2023, a nationwide cleanliness survey. It analyzes the scores of Uttarakhand‘s 88 urban local bodies in various cleanliness categories. Additionally, the report includes suggestions for achieving better results in future surveys.
The Chief Secretary appreciated both reports. She particularly focused on the suggestion to make registration for the Char Dham Yatra more accessible and stated that this suggestion could be implemented. She also assured that after thoroughly reading the entire report, she would try to act on the recommendations as much as possible.
Regarding the Swachh Survekshan report, she mentioned that at present, the entire machinery is focused on conducting the urban local body elections. After the elections, efforts can be made to implement the suggestions outlined in the report.
Nautiyal shared that the meeting with the Chief Secretary was positive. She took both reports very seriously and reviewed them as much as possible despite her busy schedule. The points that caught her attention were thoroughly considered, and she mentioned that she would try to implement the suggestions provided in the report.
He further added that if the suggestions regarding the Char Dham Yatra are implemented in the future, the pilgrimage can be managed in a more efficient manner, making the journey more convenient for the pilgrims visiting the region. Regarding the Swachh Survekshan, he pointed out that Uttarakhand‘s urban local bodies have been underperforming, and there is a need for improvement in this area. He expressed hope that with this in mind, he handed over both reports to the Chief Secretary.
