Dehradun, 10 Jan: The Uttarakhand Police will soon set up cyber units in every police station to investigate cybercrime cases. This step has been taken to deal with the increasing cases of online fraud, hacking, and other cybercrimes that have been causing financial losses to thousands of people.
The police department has developed a detailed plan to address the rising number of cybercrimes. Specialised cyber experts will be appointed at the ranks of Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors in the cyber units at every station. Currently, only 30 cyber police stations and officers exist in the state. These units will work with district cyber cells to stop such crimes. The police department also plans to hire 60 to 70 new experts who will be trained to handle cybercrime cases effectively. According to the officials, cybercrime is a growing problem and involves cases like financial fraud and online scams. The new units will help ensure faster action and better investigation. Existing cyber teams with IT experts will support the new units in solving cases.
