Dehradun, 10 Jan: The Pradesh Congress Committee has expelled Congress leaders who are contesting the Municipal Body Elections as rebel candidates against the official party candidates in various Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayat bodies. The party leaders involved in anti-party activities have been expelled from the primary membership of the Party for six years with immediate effect.

Amarjeet Singh, social media advisor to State Congress Committee President Karan Mahara, shared this information with the media that, at the request of the presidents of the District and Mahanagar Congress Committees, Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Karan Mahara has ordered action against former Mayor Yashpal Rana, whose wife is contesting as a rebel candidate for the Mayor’s post in Roorkee, rebel candidate Santosh Rawat from Rudraprayag, rebel candidate Kubja Dharmawan from Ukhimath, rebel candidate Kavi Joshi from Nagar Palika Bageshwar, Vice President of Congress Ex-Servicemen’s Cell Mahendra Pal Singh Rawat, who is contesting as a rebel candidate in Kotdwar, rebel candidates Dinesh Chand Master and Mahendra Singh in Rishikesh Municipal Corporation, rebel candidate Sunil Panwar from Gauchar of Chamoli district, Gajpal Lal Saini, Anil Kumar, and Anita Devi from Karnaprayag, Pushkar Singh Rawat from Gairsain, Aarti Navani from Pipalkoti, rebel candidate Preeti Panwar from Nagar Palika Chamba, Vinod Lal Shah from Ghansali, and Bhagat Singh Negi from Nagar Palika Tehri.
Singh shared that these leaders have been expelled from the party for six years with immediate effect in disciplinary action. He added that the party leadership has taken very serious note of the anti-party activities of all the above Congress leaders. Considering their actions against party discipline despite the request of the Congress leadership for withdrawal of names, it has been decided to expel them from the party for six years.
Amarjit Singh also stated that, apart from this, State Congress President Karan Mahara has also urged the central leadership for disciplinary action against Pithoragarh MLA Mayukh Mahar whose wife Monika Valdiya Mahar is also contesting as a rebel candidate from Pithoragarh. In addition, a recommendation has also been made to the National President of Youth Congress to expel National Secretary of Youth Congress Rishendra Mahar from the primary membership of the party due to anti-party activities. He also claimed that Karan Mahara said that the Congress Party is a disciplined organisation and if there is indiscipline in it, it would not be tolerated at all and strict action would be taken against whoever crosses the line of party discipline.
