Dehradun, 13 Jan: The Centre has indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Uttarakhand on 28 January to inaugurate the National Games. During his visit, the Prime Minister is also expected to review major developmental projects in the state.

Official sources claim that a two-hour session has been allocated for presentations on key initiatives, with particular emphasis on the Rishikesh Corridor, Haridwar Corridor, and Sharda Corridor projects.

The Dhami Government is preparing extensively for the PM’s visit. Alongside arrangements for the National Games, officials are also finalising plans to showcase the progress and future goals of various state projects.

Sources claimed that the key projects to be reviewed during Modi’s visit include development of Rishikesh and Haridwar Corridors besides a possible discussion regarding development of Mahakali and Sharda River corridors also.

The development blueprint for Haridwar, particularly the Har Ki Pauri area under the Haridwar Corridor, is also likely to be presented before the PM during the review meeting. This project aims to enhance infrastructure in the Kumbh Mela zone and improve facilities for pilgrims.

A comprehensive plan for developing the Mahakali River and Sharda River areas under the Sharda Corridor will be discussed. The initiative focuses on boosting tourism by connecting these regions to the state’s broader tourism circuit.

Besides this discussion regarding the progress of the ongoing projects like reconstruction of Badrinath and Kedarnath is also likely to be held. The government will present a detailed report on the reconstruction work in Kedarnath and the Badrinath Master Plan. The tourism department has prepared a special presentation highlighting the progress made so far and future steps for these iconic religious sites.

Secretary, Planning, R Meenakshi Sundaram indicated that efforts are underway to develop the Sharda and Mahakali River areas as major tourist destinations. The projects aim to capitalise on the state’s natural beauty while enhancing connectivity and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister’s two-hour review session will provide an opportunity for Uttarakhand to showcase its preparedness and progress on these transformative initiatives. The Dhami government hopes to secure further support from the central government for these ambitious projects.
