Dehradun, 18 Mar: The hoisting of ‘Jhande Ji’ at the Guru Ram Rai Darbar, here, is the symbol of love, harmony, humanity, brotherhood and faith. It will be held tomorrow. The Darbar Shri Guru Ram Rai is decked up for the occasion.

Devotees from India and abroad have reached ‘Guru Ki Nagri’ Dehradun to participate in the mela in large numbers. Doonites are welcoming the devotees with warmth.

On Wednesday, at 7 a.m., the programme will begin with the bringing down of the holy flagpole. In the afternoon, between 2 and 4 p.m., the new Jhande Ji will be hoisted under the mentorship of Mahant Devendra Das. On Friday, the historical Nagar Parikrama will be undertaken.

Devotees in lakhs arrive from India and abroad every year for this event.

On behalf of the ‘Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organising Committee’, all the necessary arrangements for the fair have been provided the finishing touches.

The ‘Gurumantra’ was delivered to the devotees by Mahant Devendra Das this evening. The Sangat while receiving the ‘Gurumantra’ took the blessings of the Jhande Sahib and the Guru Maharaj. Mahant Devendra Dass explained the significance of ‘Guru Mahima’.

He said that, just like Sun’s rays bring light and warmth to all in an equal manner, the same way the spiritual Guru showers his divine blessings equally upon everyone. The Guru erases the darkness of ignorance with spiritual light.

After the holy flagpole will be brought down on Wednesday morning, the devotees will ‘bathe’ it with milk, yoghurt, butter, Gangajal and ‘panchgavyon’. Prayer will be performed as per Vedic rituals. From 10 a.m., the ceremony of putting on ‘Gilaafs’ (covers) on the holy flagpole will be initiated. Then between 2 to 4 p.m., it will be hoisted again.

Five LED screens have been installed in the Darbar Sahib premises by the Organizing Committee. The whole programme will be live telecast on these screens, Facebook and YouTube.

The students of Shri Guru Ram Rai University have also put up a stall of organic farming products at the Darbar Sahib.

A medical team of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital has been deputed at the mela site. This includes doctors, pharmacists and nurses. A Mela Hospital has come into being at the Darbar Sahib. Chief Public Relations Officer, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Bhupender Raturi stated that free of cost medicines are also being given to the patients by the Hospital. The ambulance of the hospital is also available 24 hours to handle any casualty. A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp is also being organised at Shri Darbar Sahib by the Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital Blood Bank and Shri Mahakal Sewa Samiti. On 17, 18 and 20 March, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp is being held. Till now, 150 units of blood have been donated.
