Dehradun, 18 Mar: The State School Education Department will soon appoint 789 more guest teachers in government secondary schools. These teachers, under the lecturer cadre, will be assigned to various subjects in the Arts stream in schools located in hilly and remote areas of the state. Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has directed department officials to ensure the immediate posting of guest lecturers based on district and subject-wise allocations.

To maintain the teaching system in government secondary schools, the state government had earlier decided to appoint guest teachers against vacant lecturer posts. Over time, the department has been appointing guest teachers as a temporary arrangement to address vacancies. Given the shortage of teachers and delays in recruitment by the State Public Service Commission, 789 more guest lecturers will now be appointed in the Arts stream.

The Subject-Wise Distribution is: Hindi – 193; Geography – 90; Economics – 194; Political Science – 217; History – 95. All these guest lecturers have been allocated districts based on merit, where they will be assigned subject-wise to various government secondary schools.

The District-Wise Distribution is: Chamoli – 101; Pithoragarh – 98; Pauri – 154; Almora – 90; Uttarkashi – 22; Tehri – 61; Nainital – 39; Champawat – 44; Bageshwar – 55; Rudraprayag – 61; Dehradun – 19; Udham Singh Nagar – 42; Haridwar – 3.

The priority for these guest teachers will be posting in hill and remote secondary schools. Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has instructed department officials to ensure quick deployment of these teachers. Earlier, 157 guest lecturers in the Science stream were appointed.

“To ensure a strong teaching system in government secondary schools, a merit list of 789 guest lecturers in the Arts stream has been prepared and sent to districts. All Chief Education Officers have been instructed to promptly appoint these guest teachers to vacant positions. The government is fully committed to providing quality education to the students of the state,” stated Dr Dhan Singh Rawat.
