Dehradun, 4 Apr: A parade and self-defence workshop was held at the Police Lines here on Friday to promote physical fitness among police personnel and empower women. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh led the initiative, emphasising the importance of discipline, fitness, and women’s safety.
During the parade, SSP Singh urged police personnel to maintain physical fitness, highlighting its role in enhancing efficiency and discipline within the force. He also instructed officers to conduct regular parades to ensure their teams’ overall well-being. After that, in the self defence workshop, trained female officers demonstrated techniques from judo and wushu, providing hands-on training to help participants respond to potential threats effectively.


SSP Singh highlighted the significance of self-defence training for women, stating that it not only enhances physical strength but also boosts confidence and mental resilience. He stressed the need for women to be equipped with skills that enable them to protect themselves in challenging situations.

In addition to self-defence training, senior female police officers educated participants about crimes against women and children, legal rights, and the protective measures available under the law. Special attention was given to cybercrime awareness, with experts explaining the tactics used by cybercriminals and precautionary steps to stay safe online.
