Dehradun, 9 May: In light of India’s intensified action against terrorism, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today convened a high-level meeting at the Secretariat. During the meeting he directed the top officials to remain fully prepared for any situation. He also mandated special vigilance in border areas and directed the administrative units to also stay on high alert.

The CM emphasised the need for adequate medical preparedness, instructing officials to ensure the availability of life-saving medicines, surgical equipment, and other essential medical resources in all hospitals across the state.

To safeguard essential supplies, the CM asked the Food and Civil Supplies Department to ensure the maintenance of an uninterrupted flow of food items, ration, and drinking water and other items. Relief and rescue teams have also been placed on standby for swift emergency response.

Additionally, Dhami directed the Information Department to actively counter misinformation and the rumours and provide timely updates to the public. Stressing the importance of public safety, the CM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to handling any emergency with utmost efficiency.

It may be recalled that Uttarakhand is a border state which shares an international border with Nepal. There are a number of strategic institutions and installations in the state like the Indian Military Academy, IIRS, Survey of India, etc. Recently, security was also beefed up for sensitive locations such as Char Dhams.  In fact, it is for the first time that security has been beefed up for the Char Dham Yatra in the state given the possible threats and terror attacks. Officials have been instructed to monitor suspicious activities closely and ensure robust surveillance in border regions.

Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, DGP Deepam Seth, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli and ADG AP Anshuman.
