Dehradun, 19 May: The ‘Kshatriya Chetna Manch’ celebrated the 486th Birth Anniversary of Maharana Pratap at Maharana Pratap Bhawan, Nanurkhera. Chief Guest Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma along with Manch Patron Rajender Khatri, who presided over the programme, and Special Guest Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp and garlanding the portrait of Maharana Pratap.
The programme was presided over by Manch Patron Rajender Khatri. A number of nearby residents and officials of KCM also paid homage to Maharana Pratap.
Addressing the gathering MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ stated, “We should stand above caste and religion and dedicate ourselves to the security and upliftment of the country by following in the footsteps of Maharana Pratap.”
Under the guidance of Sankalp General Secretary Anita Negi, a painting competition for the children of Govt Junior High Schools was also conducted. Children also presented a brief cultural programme in which a Jaunsari dance by Aliya Tomar and Speech on Maharana Pratap by Aradhya Tomar were prominent items. All the winners of the competition were awarded with suitable prizes.
On this occasion, KCM also honoured Anushka Rana who secured the top position in the entire state’s XII class Board Exam, and social worker Navneet Rana for his work on environment conservation. The programme was conducted by Shashi Kant Shahi and Mahesh Rauthan.
Social worker and Central General Secretary of the Manch, Ravi Singh Negi, advocated abolition of the reservation policy in its present state. He said that reservation should be limited to providing education and should not be for competitions and services. If provided, it should given on the basis of economic status. He appealed to society to adopt and follow the ideals of Maharana Pratap.
