District Admin holds public hearing, land related complaints dominate

Dehradun, 19 May: Following the directives issued by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, a Janta Darshan and public hearing programme was organised today at the district collectorate, under the chairmanship of Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah. A total of 145 complaints were received during the programme with land-related issues dominating the grievances, alongside concerns about mutual disputes, applications seeking financial assistance, sanitation, drinking water, ration card issuance, cement installation, loan waivers, and pensions.

The CDO instructed the officials concerned to ensure the timely resolution of all grievances raised during the Janta Darshan programme. For complaints requiring extended investigation, he directed that complainants be regularly updated on progress. On encroachment and illegal occupation of government land, he ordered the SDMs and the Municipal Corporation to take strict action to free encroached government land. He also directed spot compensation for complaints related to land demarcation.

Residents of Simog Koti Colony under Vikasnagar Tehsil alleged encroachment on government and river land in Vyasanhari, prompting directions to SDM, Vikasnagar, to take effective action. Mohalla Kalyan Samiti, Teg Bahadur Road, complained of encroachment on public land, for which SDM Sadar was instructed to submit a report. In village Nawada, concerns were raised about a wedding point constructed on disputed land and the cutting of fruit trees for plotting purposes; Chief Horticulture Officer and Tehsildar Sadar were directed to investigate and report.

Kailash Kukreti, a resident of Gram Panchayat Upper Talai in Raipur development block, reported that debris from road construction by PWD had damaged irrigation canals and water tanks; Executive Engineer PWD Rishikesh was directed to submit a report in this regard. Retired attendant Raika Tyuni Bhram Dutt Sharma complained of non-payment of gratuity even ten months after retirement, stating he was being made to shuttle between offices. Chief Education Officer was directed to take immediate action.

Women residing on Rajpur Road raised concerns about rotten garbage and discarded food near the RTO office, leading to foul odours and health risks for residents, particularly children and the elderly. They also flagged parking and traffic issues caused by road debris. OC LBC was directed to take action.

Ajabpur resident Virendra Rawat highlighted the problem of waterlogging in the area during the monsoon season and sought relief from the issue. The Deputy Municipal Commissioner was asked to intervene. Chharba resident Memo Devi complained that despite completing loan instalments for her business, she was not being issued a computerised certificate. LDM was instructed to resolve her grievance.

Amongst others also present at the programme were Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Finance and Revenue KK Mishra, Joint Magistrate Harshita Singh, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, Deputy District Magistrate Headquarters Apoorva Singh, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar, Executive Engineer PWD Jitendra Tripathi, District Supply Officer KK Agarwal, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, District Program Officer Child Development Jitendra Kumar, General Manager District Industries Centre Anjali Rawat, and officers from various departments.
