Dehradun, 23 May: A delegation from the Shri Mahasu Devta Temple Management Committee, Hanol, led by Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh, met Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan at the Secretariat here, today, regarding the proposed Mahasu Temple Master Plan in Hanol.

During the meeting, the temple committee expressed strong dissatisfaction with the manner in which the master plan is being developed. Through MLA Pritam Singh, the committee informed the Chief Secretary that the Department of Tourism had unilaterally designed the project framework without consulting the temple committee or incorporating suggestions from local tribal residents. The committee also raised concerns that the plan and contract appear to benefit specific individuals.

Highlighting the widespread discontent among locals due to the exclusion of the temple committee, MLA Pritam Singh requested the Chief Secretary to ensure that the master plan is developed in full consultation with the temple management and local stakeholders. He emphasised that Mahasu Devta is a vital part of the region’s tribal cultural heritage, which must be preserved.

Chief Secretary Bardhan assured the delegation of a positive and appropriate course of action in the matter.

Present during the meeting were senior members and conveners of the Shri Mahasu Devta Temple Committee – Chandram Rajguru, Treasurer Raghuveer Singh Rawat, and senior member Rajaram Sharma.
