CDO resolves most complaints on the spot during public hearing in Doon

Dehradun, 26 May: Following the Chief Minister’s commitment to service and good governance, and under the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, a Janata Darbar was organised today at the Collectorate auditorium, chaired by Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah. Citizens from various parts of the district presented a total of 113 complaints, the majority of which the CDO resolved on the spot. He also instructed officials to ensure prompt and time-bound resolution of public grievances.

As usual, land disputes dominated the Janata Darbar, with several complaints related to encroachment. A disabled ex-serviceman reported that some individuals had encroached on his land in Nawada and assaulted him. Similarly, a retired army officer from Hasanpur, Tehsil Vikasnagar, complained that land mafia had occupied his private land and were threatening him. The respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) were directed to investigate these matters. A woman from Pathribagh complained that her neighbour was constructing a building encroaching on her private land, deviating from the MDDA map, prompting directions for action to MDDA. For complaints regarding disputed land being tampered with despite ongoing court cases involving Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation land, the PWD, Municipal Corporation, and Tehsil administration were instructed to conduct a joint inspection. The Tea Garden Workers’ Union complained about tea bushes being cut for agricultural purposes in Udiyabagh and Goodrich Vikasnagar tea gardens, leading to immediate action directives for SDM Vikasnagar.

Regarding demands for an impartial investigation into land compensation distribution by Palsi PWD, Chakrata, PMGSY, and Chakrata-Tyuni National Highway officials for Gram Dimich-Chanjo, a joint team was formed, and officers were instructed to submit a report within 15 days. For the demand to install solar lights in East Hope Town, Thakurpur Panchayat, Gram Chai Bagh, the CDO directed UREDA (Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency) to include the proposal in the District Plan. Residents of Vani Vihar ward demanded the demolition of illegal culverts built over drains near Sapera Basti.

A widow from Ajabpur Kalan appealed for financial assistance, citing her poor economic condition. Similarly, a widow from Nehru Gram narrated her plight, stating that her family was facing financial hardship after her husband’s untimely death in a road accident. She sought financial aid and employment, prompting immediate action directives to concerned officials. Shivram, a resident of Begi Chakrata village, requested approval for a multipurpose tank through the Agriculture Department. For the demand of an impartial inquiry into canal construction in Gram Myunda, Chakrata, the DDO (District Development Officer) was instructed to take immediate action. The District Disaster Management Officer was asked to present the case under the disaster fund for the repair of canals/gools damaged by natural calamities. The Executive Engineer of PWD was directed to inspect and take necessary action to prevent continuous road accidents on Tapovan Road and Ladpur Road, including installing speed breakers and warning signs.

Among those present at the Janata Darbar were Additional District Magistrate KK Mishra, SDM Apoorva, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, Chief Education Officer VK Dhoundiyal, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, DSWO Dipankar Ghildiyal, CVO Vidyadhar Kapadi, and district-level officers from other departments.
