Dehradun, 12 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually inaugurated the new Axis Bank branches at Guptkashi and Jyotirmath during an event held at the CM’s Official Residence, here, today.

On this occasion, the CM expressed happiness at the inauguration of the new Axis Bank branches in Guptkashi and Jyotirmath, stating that this would expand modern banking facilities to the border areas. He added that this step would accelerate regional development alongside financial inclusion. Dhami emphasised that, both, Guptkashi and Jyotirmath are important halts on the Char Dham Yatra. The opening of bank branches in these locations would benefit local residents as well as the pilgrims. He further stated that the state government would provide all possible assistance to strengthen the necessary infrastructure for all banks in the state.

Dhami also mentioned that a rehabilitation project costing over Rs 1,700 crores is currently underway in Jyotirmath (formerly Joshimath) with the support of the Government of India. He reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing towards the resolve of a developed nation. This resolve, he asserted, will only be fulfilled when individuals at the last mile are connected to the mainstream of development.

The CM also added that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, various schemes like the Jan Dhan Yojana and Mudra Yojana have worked to connect every citizen of the country to banking services. He reminded that more than 55 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in the country. Now, through these accounts, funds for beneficiaries of any scheme are directly reaching their bank accounts.

Dhami also claimed that the state government is working to strengthen financial inclusion. He observed that ‘Devbhoomi’ Uttarakhand has been ranked second in establishing financial discipline and secured the first position in the list of Sustainable Development Goals released by NITI Aayog. The state government’s endeavour, he claimed, is to ensure that services like banking, financial services, and insurance reach every citizen. He also stated that the state government is extending e-governance, mobile applications, and digital services to every village, thereby making people’s lives easier.

Also present on the occasion were Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat, Dr Mohan Singh Bisht, Asha Nautiyal, Axis Bank Managing Director Amitabh Chaudhary, and Additional Secretary Manmohan Mainali.
