SDRF rescues 5 members of a family from drowning in Ganga during Kanwar Mela

HARIDWAR, 14 Jul: During the ongoing Kanwar Mela, five members of a family from Gurugram were rescued from drowning in the Ganga River by the SDRF team at Kangra Ghat on Monday.

According to officials, all five people were taking a holy dip in the river. They were unaware of the river’s strong current and depth. While bathing, they started getting pulled by the fast-moving water and began drowning. They shouted for help, creating panic at the ghat.

As soon as the SDRF team saw standby at the riverbank, threw rescue ropes and helped pull everyone to safety. the people drowning, it quickly swung into action. Under the leadership of SI Pankaj Kharola, HC Aashiq Ali and Constable Nitesh Khetwal, they immediately reached the spot using a rescue boat (dinghy).

At the same time, HC Vijay Kharola, Constables Kavindra Chauhan, Shivam, Anil, and Ramesh swam from the other side to help. They carefully brought all five individuals into the boat and made sure they felt safe.

Meanwhile, ASI Pravindra Dhasmana, Prakash Mehta, and Tech Ankit Pal, who were on standby at the riverbank, threw rescue ropes and helped pull everyone to safety.

SDRF stated that all five individuals were rescued safely and did not suffer any injuries. The family members, including the parents of the rescued, expressed deep gratitude to the SDRF team for saving their children’s lives.

The rescued persons have been identified as Aarti, daughter of Sanjay, 19, Palak, daughter of Sanjay, 15, Sagar, son of Sanjay, 16, Vishal, son of Kukku, 18, Veer, son of Kukku, 14, all residents of Farukhnagar, Gurugram.
