SJVN wins Second Prize in Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2025

Shimla, 29 Sep: SJVN has been awarded the Second Prize in the prestigious Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2025 presented by the Union Ministry of Power. The award was presented by Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India to Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, SJVN, at New Delhi today.

On this occasion, Bhupender Gupta stated that the Award has been conferred on SJVN for its outstanding performance during the nationwide programme, ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2025’. The structured Action Plans and Impactful Initiatives undertaken by the company across its Projects and Units during the Pakhwada have created positive and lasting change in society.

Swachhta Pakhwada Awards recognise exemplary efforts by Power CPSEs in advancing the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission during annual observance held from 16 to 31 May every year. Awardees are evaluated on multiple parameters, including awareness generation and sustainable cleanliness initiatives. This year, after rigorous evaluation by Ministry of Power, SJVN secured the Second Prize, with PGCIL and NHPC bagging First and Third prizes, respectively.

Since inception of these awards, SJVN has demonstrated consistent excellence by winning four First prizes including three consecutive wins and two Second prizes.

During Swachhta Pakhwada 2025, SJVN, with active community participation, organised wide range of cleanliness & sustainability activities. These included extensive cleanliness drives, plantation drive, menstrual hygiene awareness sessions, promotion of sustainable practices, awareness programmes discouraging single-use plastic, awareness session on hygiene and waste management, river cleaning activities, expert talks, rallies, nukkad nataks, competitions in schools, etc.

SJVN’s continued success in the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards underscores its dedication to creating more sustainable future for the nation.
