Chief Minister releases Dec pension instalment of Welfare Dept beneficiaries

Dehradun, 4 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the December pension instalment for beneficiaries of various pension schemes run by the Social Welfare Department through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system from the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, here, today. On this occasion, a total amount of Rs 140 crore 26 lakh 97 thousand was transferred online to the bank accounts of 9,43,964 beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is continuously working towards the social and economic empowerment of weaker sections of society, senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities, and destitute individuals. He said that to strengthen transparent governance in the state, all types of payments are now being made directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the DBT system, ensuring timeliness and transparency.

The Chief Minister instructed officials of the Social Welfare Department that individuals who become eligible for old-age pension upon attaining the age of 60 should be identified in advance from the age of 59 itself, so that pension payments can be started promptly as soon as they become eligible. He emphasised that the government’s objective is to ensure that every eligible beneficiary receives the benefits of welfare schemes without any difficulty.

He further directed that no eligible person should be deprived of benefits under pension schemes, and for this purpose, the process of regular verification and monitoring should be further strengthened. The Chief Minister reiterated that the government is fully committed to the effective implementation of public welfare schemes.

On this occasion, Director, Social Welfare, Dr Sandeep Tiwari, Additional Secretary Prakash Chandra, and other officials of the Social Welfare Department were present.
