Dehradun, 30 Jan: A memorandum was sent to the District Magistrate of Dehradun through the Sub-Divisional Magistrate on Friday by Councillor Amit Bhatt, regarding the ‘serious administrative mismanagement; prevailing at the Mussoorie Tehsil office.

Councillor Amit Bhatt stated that a Patwari (revenue officer) has not been appointed at the Mussoorie Tehsil office for more than a month, due to which almost all revenue-related work has come to a standstill. Work on important documents such as land certificates, income, caste, residence, and inheritance certificates is pending, causing immense difficulties for the general public. He said that Mussoorie is a major tourist town with a large population, yet there is no permanent Naib Tehsildar and permanent Patwari. Currently, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate is working on a temporary basis, due to which administrative continuity is not being maintained and there are unnecessary delays in public services. The memorandum stated that this mismanagement at the Tehsil office is affecting the youth and the elderly the most. Many students are unable to get admission to universities due to incomplete necessary documents. Similarly, the elderly are not receiving their pensions on time, which is affecting their livelihood. In addition, people are having to repeatedly visit the Tehsil office for inheritance certificates. Local residents say that despite repeated applications, no concrete solution has been found. This is increasing public anger towards the administration. Councillor Amit Bhatt demanded that the administration appoint a Patwari at the Mussoorie Tehsil office as soon as possible and ensure the appointment of a permanent Naib Tehsildar and Patwari so that the general public can get relief. He warned that if the problems are not resolved quickly, they will consider taking protest measures. Tarun Negi, Ashish Joshi, Sachin Pawar, Ashish Kumar, Shivam Kumar, Tushar, Rajesh Rawat, and many others were present on the occasion.
