Doon Varsity VC discusses Vasantotsav preparations with Gov

Dehradun, 10 Feb: The Vice Chancellor of Doon University, Prof Surekha Dangwal, paid a courtesy call on the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), at the Lok Bhawan here on Tuesday. On this occasion, the Governor directed that the Vasantotsav–2026, to be held at Lok Bhawan from 27 February to 1 March, be widely publicised through the Department of Media and Mass Communication of the University.

The Governor also instructed that the Vasantotsav be promoted through live streaming and social media platforms so that information about the event reaches the general public. Last year as well, the Department of Media and Mass Communication of Doon University had carried out live telecast and comprehensive coverage of the event.

The Governor stated that the flowers of Uttarakhand have a distinct identity and are a great boon for the state. He emphasized that new possibilities for economic development can be explored through floriculture. He further directed that, in order to link the event with economic activities, the University’s Department of Economics should undertake research and provide its suggestions. He also instructed that detailed documentation of the entire event be prepared.

On this occasion, Prof Rajendra Prasad Mamgain, Head of the Department of Economics, and Prof Rajesh Kumar, Head of the Department of Media and Mass Communication, were also present.
