84th meeting of State Level Bankers’ Committee held in Doon

Dehradun, 28 Mar: The 84th meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) was held at the Secretariat here, today, under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Anand Vardhan.
During the SLBC meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary urged the bankers to set a target for opening new bank branches on the Chardham Yatra routes in the coming financial year. Along with this, instructions were also given to install ATMs and mobile ATMs in Kedarnath and Yamunotri before the commencement of the Yatra. Anand Vardhan said that the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) should be widely publicised and included in the permanent agenda at district level meetings with the cooperation of the banks and district administration.
During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary also urged the bankers to submit necessary suggestions to the government on removal of the hurdles in the establishment of district cooperative banks in Bageshwar, Champawat and Rudraprayag. He also asked the bankers to form a sub-committee of SLBC in the state to take effective steps towards improving the credit-deposit ratio in the state. Along with this, he asked the senior banking officials to also form a sub-committee to ensure the maximum acceptance of loan applications for various schemes in the state. The banking officials were also asked to set up rural haats at the development block level through NABARD. In all, 18 points were in the agenda of the meeting on which discussions were held.
Secretary, Agriculture, BVRC Purushottam, Additional Secretary, Rural Development, Dr Anand Swaroop, Additional Secretary, Tourism, Dr Pooja Garbyal, Regional Director, RBI, Latha Viswanathan, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Vinod Kumar Bisht and senior government and bank officials were present at the meeting.
