Rudrapur, 13 Jun: Additional Director General (ADG), Crime and Law and Order, V Murugesan, today conducted a high-level review meeting in Udham Singh Nagar district with all gazetted police officers. The meeting assessed the prevailing law and order situation, serious crime trends, investigation progress, and ongoing measures to apprehend criminals.
During the meeting, Murugesan reminded the police officers of Uttarakhand Police’s commitment to a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards crime and criminals. He directed the officers to ensure impartial, evidence-based, and time-bound investigations to deliver swift justice to victims and penalise offenders.
During the meeting, key directives were issued, including prompt disposal of investigations, with Station House Officers (SHOs) and investigating officers (IOs) instructed to make inquiries evidence-driven and conclude them quickly under senior supervision. He also directed special campaigns to be carried out for the immediate arrest of the absconding, wanted, and the proclaimed offenders, focusing on serving warrants.
Murugesan asserted that regarding the Gangster Act, departments must complete pending actions in registered cases and ensure the attachment of criminals’ illegally acquired properties. Circle Officers must routinely review case diaries to maintain investigation quality and supervision. A 100 percent service directive was issued for warrants and attachments. Pending departmental inquiries must be completed within stipulated timelines, along with enhanced transparency in police procedures.
Murugesan also stressed the need for a sensitive and proactive approach to public complaints, ensuring swift resolution to build trust in law enforcement.
