Haridwar, 13 June: A solemn tribute was offered today at Sarvanand Ghat and Parmarth Ghat in Haridwar for the 265 victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash. During the tribute events held at both locations, prayers were dedicated to Mother Ganga for the peace of the departed souls and for strength to their bereaved families in this time of grief. Social workers and local residents also performed deepdaan on the banks of the Ganga at Parmarth Ghat in homage to the deceased.

Pandit Pawan Krishna Shastri stated that floral offerings were made to Maa Ganga, praying for the salvation of those lost in the tragedy. He invoked Maa Ganga’s blessings for their eternal peace. Social activist Adheer Kaushik urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to prevent future occurrences.

It may be recalled that yesterday, an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner had crashed within one minute of take-off from Ahmedabad Airport, Gujarat. The aircraft was carrying 242 passengers, including 12 crew members, with 241 fatalities reported. Among those who lost their lives was senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was travelling to London to visit his daughter.
