Assistant Transport Inspector caught accepting bribe

Dehradun, 21 Nov: The Vigilance team of Dehradun has caught Assistant Inspector of the State Transport Department, Neeraj, posted in Roorkee (Haridwar), red-handed, while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. He has been arrested.

According to the Vigilance Department, Neeraj was demanding bribes to allow trucks carrying from Punjab to enter Uttarakhand. According to the information received from Vigilance, a large number of trucks come to Roorkee from Punjab. A bribe of Rs 2,500 per truck was demanded by Assistant Inspector Neeraj, posted in the Transport Department, Roorkee (Haridwar). The complainant had lodged a complaint on the Vigilance toll-free number 1064, after which the accused Neeraj was arrested today, after being trapped while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. The Vigilance team is now engaged in further action by conducting a thorough search at the residence of the accused Neeraj and has begun investigating his movable and immovable properties, and also conducting a detailed interrogation.

According to the Vigilance Headquarters, the complainant had registered that his trucks come from Punjab to Roorkee on a regular basis. Assistant Transport Inspector Neeraj, posted in the Transport Department, Roorkee (Haridwar), had illegally demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 at the rate of Rs 2,500 per month per truck. Based on this complaint, the trap team of Vigilance Establishment Dehradun arrested Assistant Transport Inspector Neeraj, Office Assistant Transport Department, Roorkee (Haridwar), while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
