Following his allegations, the Police have registered a case against seven persons, including four named accused. The incident, which reportedly took place yesterday, has triggered concern in the area, while CCTV footage related to the incident has also surfaced and is being examined as part of the investigation.
According to police officials, 26-year-old Harsh Walia, a resident of Nayagaon Chandrabani and Mandal Vice-President of the BJYM, lodged a complaint at Patel Nagar Police Station late last evening. In his complaint, Walia alleged that a few days earlier he had an altercation with certain youth in connection with a matter at Clement Town Police Station, during which he was allegedly threatened with dire consequences.
He alleged that, yesterday, between approximately 4 and 4:30 p.m., he was returning from a café near Gautam Kund when a Hyundai i20 car coming from behind rammed into his motorcycle with force, causing him to fall on the road. Following the collision, the young men who stepped out of the car allegedly pointed a pistol at his head. Shortly thereafter, another car arrived at the spot, and additional people reportedly attempted to forcibly push him into their vehicle in what he described as an abduction attempt.
Walia further stated that, when he raised an alarm, the local residents began gathering at the scene, following which the accused allegedly assaulted him and issued death threats. Taking advantage of the situation, he managed to escape by jumping over a nearby wall. The incident left his motorcycle completely damaged, while a wall of a nearby house was also reportedly broken, adding to the panic in the locality.
The complainant has named Hardik Sharma, Abhishek Verma, Abhinav Kakran and Chaitanya Sharma among the alleged assailants, along with three unidentified persons. Information regarding the incident was conveyed to the police through Dial 112, after which a police team reached the spot and took one of the vehicles into custody.
