Mussoorie, 23 Apr: The Award Ceremony for the students of the batch of 2024 was held here, today, at St George’s College to recognise excellence in academics and significant contribution in the field of sports and other co-curricular activities.
The Chief Guest, Meera Saklani, Chairperson, Nagar Palika Parishad, Mussoorie, was extended a formal welcome by Shubhashish Gupta. The guest was presented a planter as a token of appreciation for her presence.
The programme began with the observance of a minute’s silence for the victims of the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Following this, the Academic Awards were presented by Principal Brother Ramesh Amalanathan. The subject trophies for Commerce and Economics were presented to Agasthya Baid; the Subject trophies for English, Physics and Chemistry were awarded to Bisman Kaur; the subject trophy for Computer Science was awarded to Kartik Dang, and the Subject trophy for Psychology was awarded to Yuvraj Singh.
Colours for Excellence in various sporting disciplines were awarded to Aaradhya Sabharwal for Tennis, Aaditya Jain for Swimming, Agasthya Baid for Swimming, Aditya Sawhney for Hockey, Shaurya Sharma for Hockey, Roller Hockey and Skating; Saksham Mittal, Vatsal Aggarwal, Aditya Sawhney and Vaibhav Joshi for Shooting; Nitya Malik for Badminton; Parv Rai Sardana and Sukrit Kumar for Gymnastics; Ritik Panwar for Football and Shwetik Singh for Basketball.
Colours for Cultural Activities were presented to Bisman Kaur for Music and Parth Gaba for Dramatics.
The Alumni Awards for the Academic Year 2024 were presented to Yuvraj Singh, who received The Brother SJ Darcy Silver Medal for the Best Debater of the Year. The Brother JC Carroll Silver Medal for the Footballer of the Year was awarded to Naman Goyal.
The MC Wood Medal for the Sportsman of the Year was awarded to Shaurya Sharma and The Brother Cummins Gold Medal for the Manorite of the Year was awarded to Yuvraj Singh.
In her address to the gathering, Chief Guest Meera Saklani congratulated the graduating batch and advised them to embrace the challenges that come their way with courage. She said that the students were lucky to study in an environment that fosters continued and comprehensive growth. Saklani appreciated the management for the consistently good quality of education and requested the visiting parents to spend some time in the beautiful hill station of Mussoorie.
Principal Brother Ramesh Amalanathan thanked the Chief Guest for her gracious presence and congratulated the prize winners.
The programme concluded with the School Song and the National Anthem.
The Award Ceremony was concluded successfully under the supervision of Brother Ramesh Amalanathan, Brother Felix Kumar (Vice-Principal & Sports Secretary, St George’s College), Veronica Menezes (Junior School Coordinator), Deepali Ballabh (Cultural Coordinator), Mark Gonsalves (Senior School Coordinator) and Bhavnesh Negi.
