Dehradun, 29 Jun: The Bannu Biradari, Dehradun organised a grand Parichay Sammelan (Community Introduction Meet) on Sunday at Hotel V One Pride, Prem Nagar, here. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Bannu community and aimed at strengthening social unity while preserving the community’s rich cultural heritage.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Addressing the gathering, Trustee Amit Kapoor recalled that the demand for forming a formal Bannu Biradari organisation had been raised during the elections for the Bannu School management. He dislcosed that, along with fellow trustees Sanjeev Virmani and Santok Singh Nagpal, efforts were initiated to establish the organisation, and Deepak Bhatia was appointed as its President. He stated that the primary objective of the Biradari is to promote social welfare, strengthen community bonding, and empower members to contribute meaningfully to society.
Speaking on the occasion, President Deepak Bhatia said that the organisation is committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Bannu community, inspiring the younger generation, and organising social and cultural programmes that leave a positive impact on society.
The event also featured an entertaining cultural programme, including Tambola, cultural performances, dance presentations and a lucky draw. The highlight of the evening was a vibrant Giddha performance, which received an overwhelming response from the audience.
Concluding the programme, Trustee Santok Singh Nagpal highlighted that the Bannu Biradari has been organising the historic Ravan Dahan and annual fair every year. He further stated that the organisation has been contributing towards affordable education and several other welfare initiatives for the benefit of society.
Among those present on the occasion were Anand Muniyal, Surendra Bhatia, Deepak Bhatia, Prem Chand Bhatia, Surendra Kapoor, Kamal Manocha, Rasik Bhatia, and several other distinguished members of the community.
