Dehradun, 29 Jun: BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt has asserted that, in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), only capable and dedicated workers are accorded the highest priority when it comes to distribution of election tickets. He made it clear that making public statements or staking claims for Assembly tickets on public platforms or social media is not in accordance with the party’s discipline and organisational norms.
Speaking informally with media persons here today, Bhatt conceded that in a democratic system, electoral ambition is natural. However, he emphasised that the timing and procedure for expressing such aspirations are clearly defined within the party framework and must be strictly followed by all. Any deviation from the prescribed process would be viewed within the ambit of indiscipline. He added that, if any worker has a desire, claim or suggestion regarding contesting elections or any other matter, it should be placed before the organisation internally at the appropriate forum and at the right time.
Expressing concern over certain media reports, Bhatt added that the reports appearing in the media and on social media, either knowingly or unknowingly attributed to party leaders regarding claims for the forthcoming Assembly elections, have caused considerable displeasure from the state leadership to the central leadership. He advised the party members to remain mindful of the BJP’s core ideology, stating that the party is the world’s largest organisation continuously guided by the principles of cultural nationalism. He remarked that a key reason behind this achievement has been the party’s guiding philosophy of ‘Nation First, Organisation Second, Individual Last’ and the spirit of complete dedication associated with it.
Bhatt also stressed that the BJP is a disciplined political organisation functioning through democratic methods. While it is natural for every worker to have aspirations and the right to express their views, he reiterated that there is a prescribed platform and process within the party for doing so. In his message issued in the capacity of a guardian of the organisation, he once again reminded workers and office-bearers that making statements in public forums or on social media regarding Assembly tickets or any form of candidature is not in keeping with party discipline. Any worker with an aspiration or suggestion should present it internally before the organisation at the appropriate time and forum.
He further clarified that the party respects all its workers but it accords top priority to merit and dedication. Decisions regarding ticket distribution are taken at the appropriate time under the guidance of the central leadership and in accordance with merit and established organisational procedures.
Bhatt advised the party members to rise above personal ambition and place organisational dignity and discipline above all else. He also cautioned that the organisation will not hesitate to take strict action against those who act in violation of party discipline. He stressed that the primary objective of every worker should not be personal publicity but strengthening the organisation, so as to ensure a historic victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
