Dehradun, 19 Mar: The BJP has strongly endorsed the ongoing crackdown by the state government on illegal madrasas in the Kumaon division, mirroring similar actions in Garhwal. State spokesperson of BJP, Suresh Joshi emphasised the importance of preserving the state’s demography and its Devbhoomi identity. He asserted that no one will be allowed to jeopardise children’s future under the guise of religious education.

Joshi reiterated the party’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s cultural and demographic integrity. He criticised attempts to alter the state’s demography through illegal encroachments disguised as religious activities. Stressing on greater public awareness of such illegal madrasas, he noted that these institutions often bypass regulations and promote divisive teachings under the pretext of primary education. He added that CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken decisive action against such conspiracies, freeing over 5,000 acres of encroached land in the first phase and targeting illegal madrasas and mosques in the next. Many of these institutions have been shut down, and affected children are being enrolled in nearby government schools.

Joshi expressed satisfaction that strict measures are being implemented in Kumaon, particularly in the Terai regions, where some institutions have been linked to immoral and criminal activities. He affirmed the BJP’s unwavering support for these actions and its resolve to prevent any attempts to alter the state’s demography or Devbhoomi’s character. He dismissed opposition criticism as politically motivated, asserting that the government is determined to eliminate anti-national and anti-cultural forces.
